You need this slow cooker hot chocolate recipe in your life for the holidays! I’m not kidding! I tried other slow cooker hot chocolate recipes found at Pinterest, but they were WAY too sweet by adding sweetened condensed milk. This one uses cream and chocolate, with a hint of vanilla. It tastes just like a Starbucks hot chocolate, yum yum!
I made this slow cooker hot chocolate recipe for Thanksgiving and it was a hit! I doubled the recipe for 8 people, we all had a couple of glasses, and I had a lot leftover that I gave to my neighbors in a Chinese to-go soup container, topped with a bow. I love to doorstep bomb my neighbors with all of the goodies I make for my blog. I think they enjoy being my taste testers :)
Create a hot chocolate bar next to your slow cooker by laying out a few fun mix-matched mugs, a ladle over a spoon rest, a couple of liqueurs, and extra points for mini marshmallows. I happen to have Kahlua, Baileys, and Frangelica on hand. And by the way, Frangelica, a hazelnut liqueur, will make your hot chocolate taste like Nutella hot chocolate, yum yum! If you have mint flavored Baileys, that would be an amazing option as well!
Ingredients
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 8 cups milk
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
- 2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to the slow cooker (for a double batch, I used a 7 quart slow cooker), stirring occasionally until chocolate is completely melted. Cover and cook on low for 2 hours, stirring well before each serving. Serve hot and garnish well!
