Celebrating “4th Of July” Spirit Week

I hope you all had an amazing 4th of July weekend! We are still celebrating spirit week, and it’s been a blast enjoying all of the festivities in our new neighborhood. There’s such a big feeling of community here and they bring back a lot of family traditions that seemed to be lost in our old neighborhood. For the 4th of July, the last “big hoorah” before school starts, the day begins with a fun parade and ends with a massive fireworks show! It’s an all-day event full of food, family, friends, and fun!

This particular morning was super hot and humid here in Florida, especially for this very pregnant gal, so we wore as little as possible. John loves his “sun’s out guns out” muscle tank {we’re not allowed to dress him anymore lol}, and I kept it cool in my new maternity denim cut-offs and a white tee. We both stayed super comfy for a day of walking around in our new slip-ons from Famous Footwear! I picked up a pair of bright white Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars that have a red and blue stripe on the side, perfect for the occasion, and John wore the most ADORABLE pair of Vans slip-ons I’ve ever seen grace his little fat foot. He loves them and every day he asks to wear his “new shoes”! Check out the #ohsofamous gallery to get inspired by what others are wearing from Famous Footwear.

The parade began with a line-up of neighborhood golf carts decorated in their best red, white and blue.

They threw out candy to the kids, which is new to John, so he had a bit of a sugar rush after the show.

According to John, Uncle Sam was “So tall, mommy. That man is high in the sky”!

Now that we know there is a competition for best decorated golf cart, it is SO on next year!

Enjoying the breeze on the way back to our house in my new Converse Chuck Taylor Shoreline slip-ons!

John loves his “merica flag” and kept his spirit going as the sun set.

Giving John a little lesson about the stars and stripes.

Johnny boy was a little too pooped out for the fireworks show, but daddy went on our behalf with some friends and brought back some super sparkly pics for us to enjoy the next day.
