Manicure Mondays – Cross Negative Space Manicure

Negative Space Cross Manicure Nails Nail Art

Happy Manicure Mondays everyone! I hope you all had a fab weekend! Today I have a fun manicure to share with you all. I’ve been wanting to try a negative space manicure for a while now (cut out design), and I finally went for it yesterday! I really thought it would be a fail, but I’m so happy with the way it turned out.

For my first negative space manicure, I thought it would be fun to do an edgy cross design… maybe I was influenced by the Take Me To Church song that’s been stuck in my head for weeks. I also thought black was best for the design because the negative space design, the nude nail portion of the manicure, really pops against black nail polish. Check out the how to below to get the look of this negative space cross manicure.

Start by cutting two pieces of striping tape for the lines of the cross. The pieces need to be longer than the actual cross. Lay down one side of the cross and then fold upward the opposite end, forming a pull tab. Make sure you press down the tape very well so you don’t get any polish under a bubble. Also, make sure your fold for the pull tab is creased well so that you get a nice straight edge of polish at the fold. Repeat with the second line of the cross.

Paint over the striping tape, and around the pull tabs. I used two coats of Zoya Raven.

While the nail polish is tacky {not too wet or dry}, gently pull away the striping tape with tweezers. The first piece you take off should be the last piece you pressed onto your nail.

Ta-da! Top your negative space cross manicure with a clear top coat to fill in some of the edges and smooth out the design!
