But First, Let Me Take A Selfie!

That’s it! I’m officially hooked on ABC’s new {sure to be a hit} show, Selfie! I’ve watched the pilot episode and now you can too, at abc.go.com! What I love about this show is that it has all of the makings of my fave chick-flick cult classic movies – the inner dialog narration, the A-list clique vs. the hipster nerds, and the girl that becomes “a project”. However, in this super fun show, instead of a girl in need of a makeover, the very self unaware Eliza is in need of a make-under!

Voted “butt ugly” in high school, Eliza blew out her curls, pushed up the girls, and became insta-famous when she started gaining a huge following on social media. On a very bad day that changed everything, Eliza quickly realized, “being friended is not the same thing as having friends.” She asked her co-worker marketing guru, Henry, to ‘rebrand’ her self-obsessed reputation and teach her how to connect. Let the social media cleanse begin!

Eliza may be a bit self-obsessed with her online persona, but there is something about this girl that is so likable and charming! I really can’t wait to see her evolution and I’m hoping there is a love interest on the horizon, but I’ll have to stay tuned to find out. The season premiere of ABC’s Selfie airs on Tuesday September 30th at 8/7c, but you can watch the pilot episode right now! My husband watched Selfie with me and he really liked it too… we shared quite a few LOLs together.

In the spirit of Eliza trying to tone it down a bit, I thought I’d try a social media cleanse of my own. Well, if at first you don’t succeed, try and try again lol. Yes, it took me more than a day to pull this one off, but I finally did it! This Saturday, I didn’t pick up my phone once with the intention of using it for anything other than, well, a phone, ummm well, and a camera ;) I didn’t share a single Tweet, Facebook update, or Instagram pic. It was such a beautiful day, spending time with my family riding around our new neighborhood in our golf cart, splashing around in the pool with John, basking in what was left of summer, doing a little antique shopping, and coming home to watch football and eat pizza. I could use more days of living in the moment and taking my head out of my…cloud. Now that it’s fall, I’d love to spend less time networking online and more time snuggling with the fam. #sofab

Have you ever tried to see how long you can stay away from social media? I’d love to hear how long you lasted. If you haven’t tried a day away, I highly suggest the cleanse. How would you spend your time if you completely “disconnected”?
