While building our house, lighting was by far the most fun, yet difficult project. I shopped a website that sells all major brands of lighting and if I was looking for a bronze chandelier for our living room, I would have to look at all 2,000 options of bronze chandeliers because even though I found one I love on page 199, what if the most amazing chandelier ever was on page 200 lol. I did this for every piece of lighting in our house!
When it came to our outdoor front porch lighting, I knew exactly what I wanted, rustic bronze lantern scones in the style of Restoration Hardware. I actually didn’t look at Restoration Hardware’s site in the beginning because I knew their prices were more than I could afford. I found the Minka Lavery Crossroads 2-Light Outdoor Lantern Sconce first, not knowing it was a Restoration Hardware look for less, but they were sold out EVERYWHERE. I did a google search to find something similar and that’s when I discovered the more expensive Restoration Hardware Cambridge Sconce for $370.
The two outdoor sconces are nearly identical {bronze, clean lines, no scroll work, no beveled clear glass}, but the look for less is more than half the cost at $159! When you’re buying two sconces, that price makes you feel like you’re getting a buy one, get one free deal of the Restoration Hardware sconce! For their slight difference in style, I actually prefer the look for less, which made it a win win considering the price. Luckily, the builder was able to find the look for less in a store across town for me, so all was well. I was able to put the money I saved into my amazing office chandelier ;)
