Happy Manicure Mondays everyone, and happy Fall! I asked you all on Facebook recently what nail polish colors you’ve picked up for fall and so many people replied with Essie’s For The Twill Of It, a color in their Fall 2013 collection, as well as the name of the collection.
With all of the enthusiasm around Essie’s Fall line, I thought it was time to swatch it for those of you that haven’t picked it up yet. Read on to find out what I think of this collection, my favorite colors, and a bonus edition of Manicure Mondays – a dupe comparison of Essie’s gorgeous purple and green molten shimmer by OPI and Julep.
Eeek, I’m so excited about this one. For some reason, I am obsessed with short dark nails this fall, in particular dark blue and super dark red. I LOVE Essie’s Afterschool Boy Blazer. It’s so deep, it’s almost black, but that almost black hue is what gives it such depth of color. So beautiful!
Essie’s Cashmere Bathrobe is a really pretty deep gray shimmer nail polish. Essie describes it as a cuddly soft, true flannel gray nail lacquer that you’ll never want to take off.
I wasn’t super excited about Essie’s For The Twill of It, until I put it on. What a gorgeous shimmer nail polish that flashes from a teal green to a gorgeous eggplant purple under different lighting.
Essie’s The Lace Is On is a jewel toned pearlescent fuchsia. I feel like I’ve seen this one before, and I’m not big on pink shimmers, so this one is not for me.
Essie’s Twin Sweater Set is a vibrant crimson red nail lacquer. This one is nothing new also, but there are only so many ways you can recreate a red creme. With that said, everyone needs at least one red creme in their collection for fall and winter.
Essie’s Vested Interest is a tweedy, woolen cool gray teal nail polish. This shade is definitely one of my favs.
My Thoughts On Essie’s Fall 2013 Collection
As always with Essie, I wish they would improve their brushes. Most of the colors went on a little streaky, with the exception of For The Twill Of It; however they were all managable. If the brushes were wider, the formula wouldn’t have been as much of an issue. They all went on pretty well in 2 coats and the colors really are beautiful. Afterschool Boy Blazer is by far my fav, with For The Twill Of It as a very close runner up.
Do you have any of these shades yet? See any you’d like to pick up? As promised, I did a second Manicure Mondays. You can find it here at my Peace & Love & OPI vs. Essie For The Twill Of It vs. Julep Blakely dupe comparison swatches.
