Manicure Mondays – New Year’s Eve Nails

New Years Eve Nails

Maybelline asked me to try out their new limited edition Color Show Nail Stickers and I have to admit, I wasn’t too excited about trying out another press on nail applique… until they arrived! I unwrapped the package and my first thought was, this manicure will be PERFECT for New Year’s Eve nails!

New Year’s Eve nails should be fun and sexy, and I think black lace over nude nails with gold and silver crystals will have you ringing in the new year in style! In fact, the name of the fashion prints I tried out are appropriately named Midnight Lace! Maybelline has introduced 8 runway ready prints, just in time for the holidays.

There’s two things I look for in nail stickers, beyond style – I like the sticker to be firm enough that it’s not flopping around as I try to line it up on my nail, but still pliable enough that it doesn’t wrinkle as I smooth it on. This was probably the easiest nail sticker I’ve ever applied, including stickers and nail polish strips. The only complaint I have is that the nail file they sent really roughs up the tips of the stickers. This is easily fixable by using your own nail file.

So what are you wearing on your fingertips to ring in 2013? Do you have your New Year’s Eve nails planned out already?

The products mentioned in this post were sent to me by the merchant or their PR company. All opinions are 100% my own. For more info, please view my full disclosure policy.

Your Thoughts?

  • Those are GORGEOUS! We’re not doing anything special for New Year’s… in fact, I’m just hosting a super chill night at our place, but if I was, I’d probably do this. Instead, I might just do some glitter :)

if the only thing you do up for new years is your nails, then you should go for it ;) its the easiest way to bring the party to your house, even if it is just for a fun night in :)

These look awesome! How is the staying power? The last time I tried nail stickers (not nail polish strips) they were peeling off within an hour. :/

  • I really love these, good lasting power?

How long did they last? I tried their Cheetah Chic nail stickers, and I was pretty disappointed… They wrinkled a lot, and pealed of in 2 days… I don’t know if I was applying them wrong, but I guess I can give it a try again since I bought Midnight Lace at the same time. Any tips on how to apply them?

LOVE the design! (but how hard were they to get off? that seems to be what stands in between my trying nail strips again.)

  • ooohhh….off to the store!!

let me know if you pick any up and what you think about them :)

i hate to admit that i actually ripped these off after 3 days {they peeled off really easily}, mostly because i HATE textured nails and think that textured nails are really only good for a fun night out {ex my feather nails, lace nails and snow white glitter nails}. there was a little wear and tear at the tips after 3 days, but i think that could have been avoided had i used my own nail file. as i said in the review, their nail file was quite rough and shred the tips quite a bit when i applied them. i hope this helps and please let me know if you all have any more questions :)
