Manicure Mondays – Gold Rush

New Years Eve Manicure

Happy New Year’s Eve everyone! What are your big plans for the evening? I’ve been sick, pregnant, and run down from the past few months of trying to sell our house, blogging holiday campaigns, my day job, the holidays, and making a baby, so I’m just going to sit around watching Ryan Seacrest and enjoying a cup of homemade hot chocolate lol.

Don’t think for a second that staying home for New Year’s Eve means that my nails won’t sparkle. I thought I’d come up with one more New Year’s Eve manicure for you all using polish you may have on hand, as opposed to my previous lace and rhinestone New Year’s Eve nails and crystal New Year’s Eve nails using press on nail strips.

For this manicure, I was inspired by my Golden Glamour Jewelmint giveaway and the sparkle that comes along with all things New Year’s Eve. I thought I’d come up with a look that is gold and textured {but not textured, so it can last the entire evening}. To get the appearance of depth in a mani, layer colors that are slightly different – I layered taupe, beige, and then gold. Feel free to go with silver for this manicure, or any color really, but the colors you layer should be a bit different to get the chunky textured look.

To get my Gold Rush New Year’s Eve nails, I used NYX in Taffeta as the base, a medium gold taupe metallic nail polish, topped with NYX Beige Glitter and finished with a coat of e.l.f. Golden Goddess, a gold shimmer nail polish in a clear base with diamond hex glitter. I’ve shown the layering of the two base coats below.
