Friday’s Fab Five – My Weekly Inspiration Board

I had no idea that I’d become obsessed with pretty pictures of food until I started a food styling board at Pinterest and it filled up quickly! I have an obsession for blogging + cooking + photography {not that I’m an expert at any of these obsessions} which has me wanting to hone my food styling skills.
My pics on this blog could use some work, so I picked up a book, Plate to Pixel, and I can’t put it down! I may review it in another post someday, but for now, I hope you enjoy my Friday’s Fab Five theme of yummy food in stylish pics:
- I’d love to try this simple recipe of Spaghetti Aglio, Olio, e Peperoncino, translated as spaghetti with garlic, oil, and chili pepper flakes.
- My friend Kathy let me know that it is time to add another dessert recipe to the blog {taste tester maybe?}. I didn’t realize it had been a while because desserts are one of my specialties. Chocolate chip cookies sound like the perfect choice!
- I’ve been on the prowl for spring/summer recipes, so I hope to lighten things up with this Lemon Thyme Chicken recipe. Do you have any other suggestions for seasonal dishes?
- Hot chocolate year round??? Yes, PLEASE! I can’t wait to try this Hot Chocolate on a Stick recipe!
- I find myself constantly looking for table top props for my food pics. I love these assorted pastel tea cups. Too bad this is artwork instead of the real deal! I’m on a mission to find a similar set.
So what were you passionate about this week? Were you into anything that kept you up past your bedtime? I even skipped my favorite reality junk TV all week for this book lol.

Try Big Lots for the pastel cups. I recently bought some really nice plates and bowls that I set out on my dinning room table for super cheap! I got white and a really pretty pastel blue, but I also saw some greens

I made up a batch of the spaghetti recipe, but instead used whole grain/whole wheat penne & fusilli. I also added some freshly grated romano. I didn’t add the chili peppers to the original batch, because I wanted to use the recipe as a “base” grain for the week.
It was fantastic on its own, but also a great base to add with other quick recipes for the week. All I had to do was warm it up in the microwave. (Then use the chili as the condiment)
Day 1: Added a chicken with tomato sauce on the side.
Day 2: Added ham with peas.
Day 3: Added capers with fresh tomatoes and bell peppers.
I think I could probably come up with a zillion different ways to compliment the pasta so it’s like a new dish every night. It sure beats just having a batch of plain pasta with nothing on it as the base grain for the week.
Thanks for sharing! Really enjoyed this one.
